The brief rotates: build the tallest tower, reach the furthest out over open air, span the widest stretch of bare ground, or seal in the most space. Structures topple for real — if the weight above a joint hangs out past whatever is holding it, the whole thing goes over — so reaching right means putting weight left. Matching the day’s par scores 1000 points, beating it scores more, and finishing with blocks still in the tray pays a bonus. There is also a Creative mode with unlimited blocks, and any build can be shared as a link.

Par is a real structure built from exactly the blocks you have been given, so it is always achievable. Matching it scores 1000. Beating it scores proportionally more, and if you beat it with blocks still in the tray you get 40 points for each one you did not need.

Pick a block from the tray and drag it onto the build area. Tap a block you have already placed to pick it back up.
At every horizontal level of your structure, the game finds the centre of mass of everything above that level and checks it against the span of whatever is carrying it. If the weight hangs out past the support, the structure goes over. It is exact integer arithmetic rather than a physics simulation, so the same build always gets the same verdict on every device — which is what makes the daily leaderboard fair.
Put weight behind it. A block that scores nothing where you place it is often the only reason the next one can go out over open air. Step out gradually rather than in one jump, and build your base wider than feels necessary — a heavy overhang can drag the whole structure over at the ground, not just at the joint. Stepping each course out a little at a time is the old masonry trick of corbelling, and holding it all up with weight alone rather than mortar is dry stacking — which is where the game gets its name.
Every day has a par, which is a real structure built from exactly the blocks you are given — so par is always achievable. Matching par scores 1000 points whatever the brief, beating it scores proportionally more up to three times par, and if you match par with blocks still in the tray you get 40 points for each one you did not need. There is no time bonus: the whole skill is deciding where the counterweight goes, and a clock would only reward hurrying past it.
Creative mode gives you unlimited blocks, no brief and no score — somewhere to build for its own sake. Any build can be turned into a link with the Copy Build Link button, and opening that link loads the structure for whoever you sent it to.
