Fix the van. Beat the funnel.
The sirens start and you have one warning window before an F5 comes down on your street. Hook Echo is a first-person tornado escape game set in a suburban subdivision you can walk into — every house on the block opens, with real floor plans, furnished rooms and a two-car garage. Somewhere in three of them are the parts your getaway van needs: a battery, a fuel can, and spark plugs. Find all three, repair the van, and drive clear of town before the funnel runs you down. The sky goes from clear to green to black while you search, and you can hear exactly how close the tornado is — the roar gets louder AND brighter as it closes, which is the only warning you get when it's behind a house. Storm cellars in the back yards will keep you alive through a pass, but hiding never wins: the van is the only way out. Get out before touchdown and the bonus is huge.
A tornado is forming on the horizon. The countdown on your HUD is how long you have before it touches down — after that it starts hunting you.
Three van parts are hidden inside three different houses: a battery, a fuel can, and spark plugs. Front doors open with F, and every house has a real interior to search.
With all three parts, walk up to the van and press F to repair it, then get in and drive.
You escape by driving the repaired van clear of the subdivision — any direction. There is no gate to find.
Storm cellars are dug into the back yards. Walk down the steps and the funnel cannot touch you, but you cannot win from down there — it only buys you a pass.
Listen. The roar tells you range: low and muffled is far away, loud and bright means it is on the other side of that wall.
Score is 300 per part recovered, 2000 for escaping, 1500 more if you got out before touchdown, plus a time bonus that bleeds away from the first siren.
Hook Echo is a free browser-based first-person tornado escape game. The name is the pendant-shaped radar signature of a supercell about to produce a tornado. You have one warning window before an F5 touches down on a suburban street. Search the neighborhood’s houses for three getaway-van parts — a battery, a fuel can, and spark plugs — repair the van, and drive clear of town before the funnel runs you down.
Yes, Hook Echo is completely free to play in your browser. No download, no signup, no paywall.
Find all three van parts hidden inside three different houses, press F at the van to repair it, then drive it clear of the subdivision in any direction. There is no specific exit to find. Escaping before the tornado touches down is worth a large bonus.
Storm cellars are dug into the back yards. Walking down the steps puts you below grade where the funnel cannot reach you, so you survive a pass — but you cannot win from inside one. The van is the only way out, so cellars buy time rather than safety.
You score 300 points for each van part recovered, 2000 for escaping, an extra 1500 if you got out before the tornado touched down, and a time bonus that decays from the first siren. Parts bank as soon as you pick them up, so a run that ends badly still records its progress.
Yes. Drag anywhere to look around, use the joystick to walk or steer, and the ACTION button to pick things up, open doors, and get into the van.
