Sol Program

Orbit. Land. Explore.

Run your own space program. Launch from Earth, navigate orbital mechanics, and land on the Moon, Mars, Phobos, and Europa. Upgrade your ship with better engines, fuel tanks, heat shields, and navigation computers. Complete 7 missions from first orbit to the final return from Europa. Arcade controls with Kerbal-style progression.

How to Play Sol Program

Complete missions to earn credits. Start by reaching Earth orbit, then progress to Moon landing, Mars, and the outer solar system.

In orbital view, gravity from all celestial bodies affects your ship. Plan your burns carefully — fuel is limited.

When you approach a landable body, you enter landing mode. Control your descent, keep speed low, and land on the yellow pad.

Upgrade your ship between missions. The Nav Computer shows your predicted trajectory, and better Landing Gear gives more landing tolerance.

Star ratings depend on fuel efficiency and completion time. 3-star runs earn the most credits.

Sol Program Strategy Guide

  1. In orbit, thrust prograde (in your direction of travel) to raise your orbit on the opposite side. Thrust retrograde to lower it.
  2. Use time warp (, and . keys) during long transits to speed up travel. Slow down when approaching your target.
  3. The Nav Computer upgrade is critical — it shows where your current trajectory will take you, making orbital maneuvers much easier.
  4. For Moon missions, burn prograde from Earth orbit when the Moon is ahead of you in its orbit. This puts you on an intercept course.
  5. During landing, short controlled bursts are better than long burns. Keep your vertical speed below the limit shown on the HUD.
  6. Upgrade fuel capacity before attempting Mars and beyond. Longer missions require more burns.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Sol Program?

Sol Program is a free browser-based space program game where you pilot spacecraft through orbital mechanics, completing missions from Earth orbit to Europa and back.

Is Sol Program free?

Yes, Sol Program is completely free to play in your browser with no downloads required.

How does the orbital mechanics work?

Gravity from all celestial bodies affects your ship realistically. You plan burns to transfer between orbits and land on planets. A trajectory preview and prograde/retrograde markers help you navigate. Controls are arcade-style but the physics rewards learning real orbital concepts.

What planets can you visit?

You can visit Earth, the Moon, Mars, Phobos, Jupiter, and Europa across 7 missions that progress from simple Earth orbit to a round trip to the outer solar system.
