How to Play Link Four

The board starts with sixteen words. Somewhere inside are four hidden groups of four.

Tap four words you think share a connection, then hit Submit.

Correct locks the group in and reveals the theme. Wrong costs a strike.

Four strikes and the game ends. Solve all four groups to bank the score.

Groups span four tiers: Literal, Lateral, Thematic, Tricky. The trickier the tier, the more tempting the decoys.

Link Four Strategy Guide

1. Start with the group you're most sure about. A clean lock removes decoys pulling you toward wrong answers.
2. Compound categories (HONEY ___, ___ BAR) are often the Tricky tier. Scan for word-fragment patterns.
3. If three words feel right and the fourth is a stretch, trust the three — the fourth is probably in another group.
4. The "so close" hint means three of your four share a group. Swap the odd one out and retry.
5. Perfect solves (no strikes, fast time) score the highest. Accuracy pays more than speed.
